Which user id to use while generating license for the server?

Hi SAP gurus

I have just installed a new SAP server and tried the transaction code 'SLICENSE'.

Then I tried to get the "Hardware key (HWID)" by clicking on the button that says "DETERMINE".

First I logged in as 'sap*' and 'j2ee_admin' but in both the cases I got a message to the effect that I don't have authority to do that.

Then I created another user called sapuser with the profiles 'SAP_ALL', which says All SAP System Authorizations.

So logging in as 'sapuser' when I tried clicking on 'DETERMINE' to generate hardware key, i get a popup window with a message 'Selection not permitted for this connection type'.

Could some one let me know what I am doing wrong!.

I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Ram

That's odd.. any user (including SAP*) is good for SLICENSE

have you tried to get the hardware key at OS level? just type command saplicense -get and you should get the hardware key.

Hi,

Some times it shows that you dont have enough permissions, Try installing license in 000 client with sap*

or create a user with sap_all and sap_new profiles.

Moved to SAP NW Admin...

PS: Try searching for the term "SLICENSE" as I have seen this discussed here a number of times in the past.
