BEx URL problem

If I test the BEx service from SICF on BI 7.0 machine the screen is opening up with http://hostname.hostname:port/sap/BW/bex URL and ending with u201Csever not found u201Cmessage .If I use http://hostname:port/sap/BW/bex straight away on browser I could able to get a login screen then once I do login I am getting u201C500 connection time out u201Cmessage.

Should I have to make any chage somewhere

I would appreciate all your help and suggestion to sort out this issue.

looks like the domain is missing in your config - then it is changed to this version ...

The machine from you are trying to access the server must be either

- entered in the DNS server of your domain

- entered in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

file.

I have already added the entry but the problem still remains.

If the line is the latest in the "hosts"-file, then you need to add a new line, otherwise Windows will not read that line.

Still I have not executed Complete BI post installation template from http://hostname:port/nwa > > change and deploy under BI Java.If I do execute of this will it create everything automatically. Shall I execute this templete.Please help me out an d suggest me.

Hello Daniel,

Yes, please execute the configuration wizard - right after the BI-JAVA installation.

Note that the new recommendation is to separate BI-ABAP and BI-JAVA as two instances (TechEd 07)

Please keep the SP level same between BI-ABAP and BI-JAVA, and there is a link on the wizard page pointing to the prerequisites needed.

Here the system is BI 7.0 .it has both ABAP and Java instance and the system has been used for the last 3 months.Shall I execute the template 'Complete BI post installation" .If I execute now .will it create any problem to the system.

and this post installtion will solve the problem Bex URL.
