ESS Error

Former Member

I'm trying to use ESS using R/3 4.7 Enterprise and ITS (without portal).

When i run individual services (PZ15, PZ41 etc) giving URL it works fine.

When i try to run ESS using service PZM3 with URL ..wgate/PZM3/!, it shows menu on left side bur right side shows error saying page not found. Even when i click on any option in menu, it gives error without showing anything.

After giving URL in browser, it shows window for logging into SAP R/3 and when i enter valid user (linked with Employee) it gives ESS menu.

Any suggestion/advice?

/Sanjay

Hi Sanjay,

can you see where the entries in the right menu point to. I am not really sure any more its been a long time since I have done something with the old ESS scenarios but maybe you can do a right mouse click on the link in the menu and then go to properties and see to which URL it points you to. If this is hidden by Java Script or something you might want to use a tools like HttpWatch which is commercial of course but very good when searching for URLs. With the tool you can capture the URL's called from your browser. To really see what happens this is of the essence.

Just to explain a bit. There are some tables stored in the R/3 systems which define the entries in the menu on the right hand side of the PZM3. You can change the entries in there by going through the customizing ( Transaction SPRO ). This of course is only a good approach if you know where the browser want's to go to.

It is showing some dynamic URL. Somehow, it is still not working. I'm trying to rebuild all services and will see whether it helps or not.

Hi Sanjay,

rebuilding the Services will not help because the URLs are build inside the R/3 system. I suggest you get yourself a tool like http://www.httpwatch.com to see where your browser goes to when clicking the links inside the menu. If you do not want to spend money you can also use a tool like http://www.ethereal.com which is free of charge but works on the network layer level. HTTPwatch is a Add-In into the IE explorer and much easier to use.

If you do have the URLs your IE tries to go to you might instantly know what's going on. If not post them here and i can have a look at it.
