XI has very good mechanisam to monitering the messages

1. Runtime work bench

Thorugh this monitering u can see the messages flow at adapter engine and integration engine

And also communication channel monitering.

Component monitering

end-to-end monitering

2. sxmb_moni

U can see the messages those are processed through integration engine.
