Hi all,

i downloaded and started everything, server is up. After requesting new license for N4S i get a file but i can't install it with transaction SLICENSE (New License mode), it's still saying license wrong.

The Hardware key is J1226376836. What is the diffrence when VMWare ask me if the VM if moved or copied ? Does this change the Hardware key ?

Hi

I personally don't have the experience about VMware environment.

But SAP on Linux the hardware key is generated based on MAC address of primary NIC.

On VM environment I assume virtual NIC is created.

This may bring different MAC address.

You can check following SAP notes.

[Note 174911 - Determining the hardware key (HW key)|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/174911]

Hi Roman,

you may can change the mac address of the vmx file and start the vm again. Configure the new device and generate a new license key. Apply with this key for a new license.

Hannes

Hey Roman,

ups, here we go:

from Manfred Stein Posted: Jul 31, 2008 10:47 AM

"I was also very pleased to see how well received our VMware editions are. However, content wise I am a bit unsatisfied, as both versions are based upon really old versions of NW7.0. We decided to benefit from the downtime and have started work on an updated version of the VMware edition. Plan is to provide a new version based upon NW7.0 EhP1. For this reason I have also removed the Wiki entries. We will also get an update to SP2 of Novells complementing SLES10.

Not sure what we want to do with CTB, also depends on the colleagues.

And thanks for all the encouraging comments

Manfred"

Thanks,

Hannes

Hej all, thank you for investiganting so much time in that great work!

The VMWare edition was the best idea ever!

No need to install everything from scratch...

PS: It took me 1 days to find out the script which set the IP of the VM to DHCP, i was wondering everytime after reboot the network config file was rewritten to DHCP.....
