Main_import finished with return 0, but frozen

I'm upgrading to the Enhancement package 3 for OCS packages SAPK-603DHINSAPAPPL and SAPK-603DHINEAAPPL . At the Import 2 phase, after all the stages were completed, I can see the message "Main_import finished and return 0" on the bottom next to the clock. Which is good but the message is being displayed for the last 2 hours. I can't seem to be able to do nothing else. But the file SAPI-603DFINSAPAPPL in E:\usr\sap\trans\tmp keep growing.

What should I do?

Thanks

Hi,

but, if one file is growing, then R3trans is running )

So, you should wait until this is done.

What you are saying is typically true in general. But in this case the fact that the process has reach the point - return 0 - where it should normally create a log file. But it seem to be hanging there.

Another starnge thing is happening. The SAPI-603DFINSAPAPPL in E:\usr\sap\trans\tmp has started over. It went all the way to 80000 kb when I was going to bed. Now it is 70000kb.

thank you

What is in your SAINT queue?

I defined these in a queue :

EA-HR 603 1-8; SAP_APPL 603 1-2; EA-APPL 603 1-2; LSOFE 603 1-2

In the development system that ran for 20 hours.

In QA and PRD, I had other problems with the same queue... system was at a higher Support pack level to start being based on the SR3 kit.

Both had- Error in TEST_IMPORT of SAPK-60301INEAAPPL

I had to ignore test import errors.

Then I had an error at DDIC_ACTIVATION

Table TPOTA_TRAVEL_ITINERARY_OUTPU36 could not be activated

Table Type TPOTA_TRAVEL_ITINERARY_OU_TAB5 could not be activated

These were activated and the queue finally succeeded.

John

These ECHPack 3 transports are a fair size - EA_APPL SAPK-603DHINEAAPPL is 514 MB, the support packages 91 and 31MB . SAP_APPL SAPK-603DHINSAPAPPL is 1003MB and support packs 162Mb and 68MB.

So I would check that your transport directory is local or via a Virtual ethernet link if on an LPARed machine, if you don't have days to wait for it to complete !!

One more thing-

Jan on the 'News from Development' blog has written very useful summary of the recent improvements with R3TRANS

"SAP on DB2 for IBM i - speed up your imports"-

so check you have one of the 'good' versions-

7.00 172

7.10 128

And patches are also available for 46D and 640 releases.

regards

Michael.
