Transports and gateway

Former Member

What is the relation between transports and gateway? We had an issue with STMS today. The import queue wont show up and the process would hang forever. redistributing TMS also didnt work. but when we killed the gateway process(unix level) on some systems it worked.

I dont understand the relation though.

Can someone help.

Thanks

Cyrus

Hi Cyrus,

A transport domain consists of all the SAP systems that

have certain same system configuration settings.

Now there exists a reference configuration on the

transport domain controller, which is one SAP system with

all the other systems in the domain taking copies of this

reference configuration. Each time change is made in this

reference configuration, it has to be distributed to all

the other SAP systems in the domain, in the form of transports.

A SAP Gateway acts as a bridge between the SAP system and

external program/system, useful for data communication.

Hence we can conclude that for distribution of the

reference configuration from the controller to other SAP

systems, we need a SAP Gateway for communicating between

the systems. That should be the relation between gateway and transport.
