Procedure to define new storage location

Dear Experts,

I need to create new storage locations for one plant.

Can anyone please guide the procedure to define new storage location and after defining new storage locations what are the next necessary assignments.

Hello,

There is nor assignment for the storage location, because when you define the storage location in the enterprise structure, the system ask for the plant. So, the storage location will be created under the plant.

SPRO --> Enterprise structure --> Defenition --> Materials Management --> Define Storage Location.

Hi there,

SPRO --> Enterprise Structure --> Definition --> Materials Mngt --> Define storage locations. Enter for what plant you want to maintain. Assign it to the plant.

If WM (Warehouse Mngt) is active for the plant, we need to assign the Warehouse num to plant & storage location.

Apart from this, you also need to determine the picking location (storage loc).

For this, you first define the picking rule for a delivery type like MALA, RETA, MARE or any customized.

Then you do the determination in OVL3: Shipping Point + Plant + Storage conditions (for MALA rule).

For eg: if your shipping point is CDBA, Plant MNOP, storage condition (maintained in material master) is 01 --> proposed storage location is XPFG.

In that you should give your plant and enter and maintain storage locations

If you are using warehouse then you must assign the combination of your plant and storale location to your warehouse in the assignment logistics execution
