Problem in SAINT with updating PI_BASIS 2006_700

Former Member

Dear All,

I have a system ECC 6.0 with OS Windows 2003, oracle 10.2g as Database.

I wanted to installed Croatian language in my system when uploading from SMLT it showed me that the system need PI_BASIS 2006_700 whereas my system is having PI_BASIS_2005_700 with patch

SAPKIPYJ7G PI_BASIS 2005_1_700: patch 0016

But from T-Code SPAM, PI_BASIS 2006 u2018s patch

SAPKIPYM01 PI_BASIS 2006_1_700: patch 0001 is in yellow state.

I have downloaded the SAPKIPYM01 patch from service market place and from t-code saint tried to update but it is running from last 6 hrs.

Last log file (E:\usr\sap\trans\log), generated 4 hrs ago.

Something might have gone wrong, that is why I have stopped it in IMPORT_PROPER step.

From SPAM it shows updated component PI_BASIS 2006_700 from PI_BASIS 2005_700 and its patch SAPKIPYM01 (2006)is in red color (cancel)

How to recover from it?

From saint the component showing

SAPKINBC9A -- installation -

PI_BASIS

SAPKIPYM01 - support package--PI_BASIS

Add-on installation terminated in IMPORT_PROPER step

Now my doubt whether base package of PI_BASIS 2006_700 needs to be updated first from saint then start updating patch??

Please suggestu2026.

Souren

Hi Souren,

Lot of archivelogs are generated while you are carrying a sp upgrade.

Please check the saparch directory has enough space in it or else it will hang.

Hi ,

Would suggest to repeat the import queue .

Also are you also updating the SAP_Basis & SAP_ABA components as well..or this is the only one that you are upgrading (PI_Basis) ?

Please check it's compatibility ( SP level) with the SAP_Basis & SAP_ABA components.

Also before you rerun the import , please check the following settings :

Tcode > SPAM>Extra-->Settings

Check for the following :

Import Queue :

Click Standard --> Import Mode : Downtime - Minimized

Click Create New data file

Click Delete Data File after Import

ABAP/Screen Generation :

Never

Also do not include Adjustment Transports in Include Modifiaction Adjustment Transports & do SPDD / SPAU modifications later after import.

Also ,

Click SPAM> Extras>Ignore test import errors

Then please rerun the import.

Thanks

how can you recommend not using the modification adjustments - do you know if he has any? If any DDIC adjustments were made he will probably loose data by not doing that step.

> Click SPAM> Extras>Ignore test import errors

Doing that is only possible after the test import finished unsuccessfully. It's not a general advise doing so.

Thanks for both of your valuable comment.

But from SPAM I am not able to edit as it says OCS locked by T-code SAINT.

from Spam> Extra> downtime -minimize in unchecked and delete data file is unchecked. Reset setting is same as advised.

Is it required to import base package seperately from saint and then support package from spam??

But from saint I have selected the 1st patch. But from saint import queue both installation package and patch are showing.

Should I continue with this or there is any other process of reset the import queue and restart as from SPAM I am unable to edit anything

Start SAINT and proceed and let the import finish.

The language DVDs are on a specific service pack level, namely that, you installed the system initially.

If you e. g. installed ERP with SR2 then you will have the languages patched up till SP9. If you meanwhile installed higher service packs you would need to

- import the language in client 000

- import the language dependent parts of all support packages you installed since initial installation (in client 000)

- substitute the "missing parts" in client 000

- refill you production client

I highly suggest using the language DVD from the same set you initially installed the system.

Thanks Markus for the reply...

Now the import queue is red as the PI_BASIS 2006 ' s patch is still in it and in cancel...How to remove it??

In order to update other service patches, It needs PI_basis 2006 component then only I can think of installing other lang packages...

How to import PI_BASIS 2006 properly from this possition as earlier mentioned.

Please: if you post logfiles, put a "code" tag (the symbol <> here in the edit field) around them. That makes those logs MUCH more readable.

Restart SAINT and repeat the import, it should go through. Those warnings can be ignored.
