Doubt in Direct Connection on PI 7.1

I would like to know if Direct Connection can only be implemented by using Web services runtime .?

And i would like to know where else we can use Direct Connection ..?

By "Direct Connection" if you mean bypassing the adapter engine then direct connection can be done with WS-RM (Web Services Reliable Messaging) and the use of proxy.

No. Only for webservice.

Why is that Direct Connection can not be used for other services other than Ws.

Direct connection uses web sevice runtime internally. So the use of Integration Server can be avoided. As an SOA initiative, more concentration is made on webservices as compared to other technologies.

I have come to know that Direct Connection in PI 7.1 can only be implemented on webservices and proxy.

It is usually used to enhance the webservice performance by making point to point connection.
