BW-SEM IDES

Hi,

I have already install ECC 5.0 IDES using windows 2003 + MySQL in my laptop. Can I install the BW-SEM IDES using the same laptop?

Since BW needs to be Unicode (due to the Java part) I wouldn´t go below 6 GB for that instance.

6 GB for what ? Memory or Harddisk?

Memory/RAM.

You can, of course, compensate that using virtual memory/swap, but in that case you will need a lot of patience when you start the system. I have seen 2 GB boxes taking > 30 minutes to start up BI with the Java part.

Java uses heap memory exclusively, means, 1 GB for one Java server process (on 32bit) plus the database (512 MB - 1 GB) plus the ABAP part needing buffers + memory for the data.

If you start both systems at the same time working with it will be almost impossible since the system will be mainly busy with swapping.
