Hi Srinivas,

MDM as we know stands for Master Data Management.

It is a known truth that MDM is the hot topic and most valuable platform in the market and your Choice is absolutely correct for the same.

To know the expectations, roles and responsibilities of MDM Consultant you can refer to my Blog which actually explains that an MDM Consultant is not only expected to know only the MDM Gui`s but should have the knowledge of other Netweaver products.

Link:

A Basic Overview which would be helpful to you:

Here we basically deal with the Master Data i.e. master data is taken from various systems that a Business have and then steps are taken to make the Master data non-redundant inorder to maintain data consistency and data quality.

There are three basic scenarios that we follow in MDM:

Data Consolidation

Data Harmonization

Central Master Data Management

Consolidation :

1. Cleansing and de-duplication

2. Data normalization including categorization and taxonomy management

3. New interactive consolidation capabilities

Data Harmonization :

1. Automated synchronization of globally relevant master data information

2. New Interactive distribution capabilities

Central Master Data Management :

HI Srinu,

to switch you platform from XI to MDM please go through the pre requisites for learning MDM.

MDM mainly requires good understaing of DBMS concepts & data modeling concepts.

the Mapping, importing, working with the imported data and syndicating the data is something like XI work.

think of it and go ahead.

best of luck

Hi Srinivas,

You already have XI knowledge with you and MDM is a hot cake right now. With MDM's latest version expected to release soon, you will find MDM soon become very important part of the Netweaver.

ALso MDM requires a lot of integration to be done with so many source systems, where Xi is majorly used as a middleware. Hence you can always use your XI knowledge in MDM technology also.

Hence I will advice you to start learning MDM.

Please go through these links below for better understanding:

MDM has basically 4 components:

1. Console.

2. Import Manager

3. Data Manager

4. Syndicator

You will find the refrence guides for these components in the below menitoned link:
