Hi,
Batch is a subset of the total quantity of a material in stock, managed separately from other subsets of the same material. In normal business process, especially in the Pharma Business, all the materials may be procured, Batch wise. The Material Movements from Production to Invoice can be processed, Batch wise. SAP follows Condition Technique to determine the Batch Number.
Procedure: To define Batch Determination you should follow the below mentioned SAP Menu path.
1. To specify Batch Level and activate Status Management, go to IMG>Logistics Genera>Batch Management--> Specify Batch Level and activate Status Management
2. To activate Document Management for Batches, go to IMG>Logistics General>Batch Management>Batch Master>Activate Document Management for Batches
3. To activate Internal Batch Number Assignment, go to IMG>Logistics General>Batch Management--> Activate Internal Batch Number Assignment
4. Maintain Internal Batch Number Assignment Range
5. To allocate SD Search Procedure/Activate Check, go to IMG>Logistics General>Batch Management>Batch Determination and Batch Check>Batch Search Procedure Allocation/Check Activation--> allocate SD Search Procedure/Activate Check
6. To Activate Automatic Batch determination in SD, go to IMG>Logistics General>Batch Management>Batch Determination and Batch Check> Activate Automatic Batch determination in SD
7. Activate Automatic Batch determination for Delivery Item Categories
8. Create Batch

SAP Menu R/3 Easy Access>Logistics>Central Functions>Batch Management>Batch-->Create
9. Define Batch Determination
Transaction code VCH1
SAP Menu R/3 Easy Access>Logistics>Central Functions>Batch Management>Batch Determination>Batch Search Strategy>For Sales and Distribution-->Create
